Sliekas ādā ir visas sajūtas!
Tai nav acu, bet sajūt gaismu,
nav deguna, bet sajūt smaržas,
nav mutes, bet sajūt garšu,
nav pirkstu, bet sajūt pieskārienus,
nav ausu, bet sajūt vibrācijas.

Sliekas ādā ir visas maņas!
Kas klāta ar izklaidus maņu šūnām.
gaismas maņa, garšas maņa, taustes maņa.
Katrai šūnai ir stiegras,
kas stiepjas līdz sliekas smadzenēm.
Smadzenes ir pavisam īpašas –
galvas smadzenes ir lielākās,
taču katrā posmā ir “mazās smadzenes” – gangliji.
Katrs posms sajūt un nosūta par nervu šķiedrām
trauksmes signālu “lielajām” smadzenēm.
Katrs posms sajūt un apvienojoties
vienā veselā organismā – DZĪVO.

All senses are within the worm’s skin!
She has no eyes, but senses light,
no nose, but senses smell
no mouth, but senses taste,
no fingers, but senses touch,
no ears, but senses vibrations.

All senses are contained with the worm’s skin!
Covered in dispersed cells of the senses.
sense of light, sense of taste, sense of touch.
Each cell has ribs,
that stretch to the brain of the worm.
The brain is quite particular –
the head’s brain is larger,
but each section has ‘small brains’ – ganglia.
Each section feels and sends along the nerve endings
a signal of alarm to the ‘large’ brain.
Each section feels and, by uniting
in one complete organism – LIVES.
